Soy Lecithin in the Kitchen: Recipes and Culinary Tips

August 19, 2024

Do you enjoy cooking different recipes and baking things from scratch? If so, do you understand how to use a good emulsifier and stabilizer? Therefore, you may want to add soy lecithin to your list of kitchen ingredients. According to The International Food Additives Council, Maurice Gobley, a French scientist, discovered lecithin in egg yolk in 1846, and since then it has been regularly used in food products. If you've never used soy lecithin before, read on to find some recipes and culinary tips for using soy lecithin in the kitchen.

Create a Healthy Meal

According to Healthline, Lecithin products that come from soy are good for your cardiovascular health, especially for those at risk of high blood pressure or heart disease. A super healthy recipe you can make with soy lecithin is vegetable rounds. You can make them with almond flour, soy lecithin granules, virgin coconut oil, and about 100 g of any cooked vegetable, such as broccoli, carrots, and garlic. These may be a fun way to get kids to eat more vegetables.

Go Airy

If you want to add bursts of flavor and different textures to your cooking, you can use flavorful air with soil lecithin. Airs are one of the simplest things to create and should be done before you eat the dish. It resembles the head of a beer. A good rule of thumb is to use a strong flavored liquid like lemon, soy, or Dijon mustard. If hosting some barbecues this summer, you may want something to add more flavorful toppings to your meat that can complement the flavor. A good recipe for mustard air involves 200 g of water, 75 g of prepared yellow mustard, and 1.6 g of soy lecithin. Blend and whisk the ingredients together and let it sit for a few hours. However, right before you serve it, froth the air by running it through an immersion blender or milk frother.

Make Foams

For something more stable than airs, you can use your lecithin for foams. A good foam can last about 30 to 60 minutes from what we have done but will gradually lose its volume soon after creating it. Think about the foam that you enjoy on a well-made cappuccino. A quality foam made with soy lecithin involves dissolving açai lecithin into your liquid of choice. When you think of foam, you may think of milk, such as in a coffee drink. However, you can use stronger liquids here such as citrus juices and teas. Anything acidic often works best with lecithin. When do you combine those ingredients? The way you combine air is essential to creating the foam. You can use a mixing device like a whisk or immersion blender. Keep whipping the liquid until a stiff foam is created.

Stabilize Emulsions

Do you enjoy making your salad dressings? If so, you may notice certain ingredients don't hold together no matter how hard you mix them. Solve this problem by using soy lecithin as it's a great way to hold emulsions together. That's why it's often used in store-bought sauces and goods. So if you're trying to eat healthy and enjoy more salads, you can have fun making your dressings. Create a yummy vinaigrette with other ingredients by adding this soy product to hold everything together.

Bake Something Yummy

If you enjoy baking, you should have soy lecithin on your shelf. Baking something with soy lecithin creates greater elasticity and moisture. It also helps to improve the shelf life of anything you bake. You may notice this lecithin is often used as an emulsifier in chocolate bars you buy in the store. That's because liquid versions of it help prevent the fat separation that can occur in chocolate. As a result, when you use it in your chocolate goods, you can help create a much smoother and creamier texture.

As you can see, there are several uses for this ingredient. Soy lecithin can make baking good creamier, it can make foams more stabilized, and create airy flavors to add to meats. If you want to enjoy your baked bread longer, it can help improve its shelf life and texture. For the best products, look no further than our business. We sell both certified organic and kosher
